The honest answer to "how much does it cost?" is "it depends", but that is not very helpful when you are trying to plan. So here are the real starting prices at our atelier, what each kind of piece costs, and the handful of things that move the number up or down.
How tailoring is priced
A tailored garment is priced on three things: the fabric, the complexity of the design, and the work that goes into the fit. A clean shift dress in house cotton is quick to cut and sew. A beaded evening gown in imported silk, with a lining and three fittings, is a different amount of craft. Both are fairly priced for what they are.
Every price below is a starting point. We give you a firm quote once we know the fabric and the design, with no surprises later. We believe in transparent pricing: you should understand what you are paying for before a single metre is cut.
What goes into pricing at LALEDA
The figure on the quote is not only fabric and sewing time. It covers the people, materials and limits we put in place so each garment is finished properly. Here is what that means in practice:
- All of our tailoring is done entirely by our experienced in-house tailor and seamstress team, ensuring complete control of quality and delivery.
- All measurements and consultations are done by our Head / Senior Pattern Makers.
- Each piece we tailor usually involves 7-9 people from consultation, measurement, pattern making, stitching, adjustments, cleaning and finalizing, to quality control and final hand-over / delivery.
- To ensure quality and attention to detail, we only tailor a limited number of garments each month.
- We use premium tailoring materials such as lining and zips for high quality and durability.
- We work with authentic fabrics: real mill cloth, genuine Thai silk when that is what you ordered, and named house bolts you can see and feel. That cannot always be taken for granted at other tailors, where a label on the roll is not always the cloth that ends up in the garment.
- We are a women-led family company and prioritize female employment opportunities.

What each piece costs
The honest price is the one you understand before a single metre is cut.
Alterations: from 500 THB per section. Hems, seams, zips and fit adjustments on clothes you already own.
Tailored trousers: from 3,000 THB. Cut to your real waist, hip and leg, which off-the-rack rarely gets right.
Shirts and blouses: from 3,000 THB for a crisp cotton shirt, more for silk or a fully lined blouse. More on our custom shirts and blouses page.
Custom dresses: from 5,000 THB for a day dress, up towards 30,000 THB for an elaborate occasion dress or evening gown.
Women's suits: from 16,500 THB for a bespoke two-piece, or from 8,000 THB for a jacket on its own.

What moves the price
Fabric. House cloth from our bolts is included in the quote. Premium fabric costs more, whether it is European wool or Thai silk from our fabric collection, and we are happy to work to your budget either way.
Detailing. Beading, hand-finishing, complex linings, pleating and boning all add hours, and hours are most of the cost.
Fittings and time. A first commission includes the fittings that build your pattern. Once we have your block, repeat orders are quicker and simpler to price.
Is custom cheaper than you think?
Often, yes. Once you add up an off-the-rack piece plus the alterations it always seems to need, a made-to-measure garment in the same class of fabric is frequently the same money, for something that actually fits and lasts. You are buying fewer, better things.
